Kaupō Grown™ Trademark
To protect the identity, integrity, and legacy of Kaupō’s people and place, our founder successfully registered Kaupō Grown™ as a trademark in 2016.
Protecting Our Identity
This trademark serves as both a legal safeguard and a symbol of pride—ensuring that products and services carrying the name Kaupō genuinely reflect the values, stewardship, and community roots of this unique region on the island of Maui.
Without this protection, outside entities with no cultural, genealogical, or geographic connection to Kaupō could exploit the name for commercial purposes, eroding its meaning and misrepresenting its origin. The Kaupō Grown™ trademark prevents such misuse and affirms that the name “Kaupō” belongs to its kupa o Kaupō—the people who live, work, and steward the lands here.
Today, Kaupō Grown™ represents more than a brand; it embodies a movement of authenticity, conservation, and Hawaiian heritage. Whether it appears on locally cultivated crops, handcrafted goods, or educational programs, the mark certifies that the work behind it honors ʻāina, ʻohana, and community self-reliance rooted in Kaupō’s agricultural legacy.
